The catastrophe

Environmental concerns are a major theme in the short story, "you then asia."

The clip below from the film mother! depicts Mother Earth (Maria = Mary + Gaia) sending a beautiful Christ child to us,

and look what we do to it. We do this exact thing to it.

Then we tell ourselves lies to feel just wonderful about that.

The short story "you then asia" is, on one level,

a revenge fantasy for Mother Earth.

On a more hopeful "lovel," it offers a diagnosis and articulates a potential solution.

Stephen King's Carrie as Mother Earth

Carrie is bombarded with trash (tampons, sanitary napkins, and toilet paper) by her uncaring classmates while in distress.

"Nobody was really surprised when it happened, not really, not at the subconscious level where savage things grow...Carrie (White) had been going to school with some of them since the first grade, and this had been building since that time, building slowly and immutably, in accordance with all the laws that govern human nature, building with all the steadiness of a chain reaction approaching critical mass."

The four Rivers flowing from the one central river in Eden (Genesis).

The four directions of the cross.

The four *living* creatures (Ezekiel, Revelation).

Represented in Revelation 6 as horses.

Can your hear them?
